Your deposits go to work right here in DC!

Community development is at the very heart of what we do.  As the only local bank exclusively dedicated to community development finance, we’re proud that our lending programs support the economic health of underserved communities.  Key to our mission is maintaining a strong funding source for those loans: your deposits!

The best source for funding the City First mission is also the ideal strategy for the socially responsible investor. While your deposits go to work in your community (a remarkable 93 percent of last year’s deposits were used to fund community development loans!) you get interest rate returns that are comparable with other banks and the full protection of FDIC insurance. Most importantly, you’ll know your deposits are fueling vital capital for low-income neighborhoods.

On average, 90% of the loans originated by City First each year are put to work in distressed low-wealth communities.  Whether the borrower is an affordable housing developer, a community service organization, a small business, a charter school, or a church, our deposit customers make this critical lending work possible by ensuring a stable funding base.  See how City First and its full array of deposit products can serve our community while meeting your overall business or personal banking needs.
