Gavin Beske comes to City First from the United States Department of the Treasury where he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary, Community and Economic Development, as head of four offices in the Treasury’s Office of Financial Institutions: the CDFI Fund, the Office of Financial Stability, the Small Business Lending Fund, and the Office of Community and Economic Development
Prior to Treasury, Mr. Beske was the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer with United Income, Inc. Mr. Beske was responsible for all regulatory, corporate governance, securities, and transactional legal matters for the FinTech algorithmic investment advisor start-up and assisted with the negotiation and sale of United Income to Capital One Financial. Prior to United Income, Mr. Beske was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of FBR & Co., where he was a member of the Executive Committee and responsible for compliance with NASDAQ stock market and SEC corporate governance and disclosure requirements, among other matters.
Mr. Beske was an attorney with the law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP specializing in securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions and venture capital financing.
Mr. Beske received his B.A. in economics from Princeton University and J.D. from Columbia University, where he was Managing Editor of the Columbia Law Review and a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar.
