So Others Might Eat (SOME)

So Others Might Eat (SOME)

With investment from City First Bank, So Others Might Eat (SOME) expanded its reach and deepened its impact in Ward 7 of Washington, DC. SOME’s whole-person approach—providing housing, healthcare, job training, and critical support services—empowers individuals and families experiencing poverty and homelessness to achieve long-term stability and well-being.

SOME developed the Conway Center near the intersection of Benning Road and East Capitol Street NE. This transformative, mixed-use development included:

  • Over 200 units of affordable supportive housing for individuals and families;
  • A 36,000-square-foot medical and dental clinic operated by Unity Health Care;
  • A premier workforce development program through SOME’s Center for Employment Training (CET), offering career pathways in healthcare administration, electronic health records, and building maintenance;
  • New administrative offices to support SOME’s expanding services and community engagement.

The Conway Center represents a bold investment in community resilience—bringing together housing, healthcare, and economic opportunity under one roof. It stands as a model for how mission-driven development can help restore vitality to neighborhoods that have long been overlooked, while honoring the strength and potential of the people who call them home.
