Thurgood Marshall Academy

Thurgood Marshall Academy

Thurgood Marshall Academy emerged in response to decades of underinvestment in the area. At the time, the community faced significant challenges—including limited access to high-quality educational resources. The school was established to help close opportunity gaps and provide students with a rigorous, college-preparatory education grounded in law and civic engagement. City First invested in the acquisition and rehabilitation of Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter School Educational Facility.

Drawing inspiration from Justice Thurgood Marshall’s legacy, the Academy offers a curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking, advocacy, and leadership. Over the years, it has become a cornerstone of educational excellence in Ward 8, consistently achieving 100% college acceptance for its graduates and offering advanced academic opportunities such as AP courses and dual enrollment.

Today, Thurgood Marshall Academy stands as a model of mission-driven education that strengthens community resilience and expands pathways to success.
